On 2.07.2019 the calf stable visit took place at the Loerts family in Westoverledingen.
Around 100 visitors came to the dairy farm with 60 cows in perfect weather. The family raises about 25 calves per year. In the past they fought a lot against typical calf diseases such as diarrhoea and respiratory diseases. The family also wanted to improve the efficiency of their work, so they invested in the conversion of the calf pen:
- with gutters
- straw box
- Concrete slabs at the front
- Barrier grids for the calves when clearing out
- large roller shutter with windbreak net for a better climate and more light
- liftable calf roof for protection against draughts
- Alma Pro 8" with 2 stations, 1 station electronics and feeding aid
Conclusion of the family's rebuilding of the calf pen:
- Significantly less work involved in feeding the calves
- Improvement of respiratory problems
- Supply of the calves also in single hutches with constant concentration and temperature directly after the colostrum by tapping the milk from the Alma Pro
